Our History

Sound Street Radio (SSR990) is an independent online Radio Station from Yamagata Japan and London UK. Its run by a small team with a devotion to quality Music and fun entertainment.
Each DJ presents a one hour genre driven show that overall provides a mix of Western / Japanese J-Pop Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Reggae and Dub-Step music in each show, in both Japanese and English languages.

Our Vision

This all came about due to the lack of good quality radio stations in Japan.
There’s to much talk and not enough music, and they don’t seem to cater enough for young people and lovers of good quality music. So we thought, lets try and shake things up a little!

Our aim here and with our SSR App is to provide a media platform for young talented enthusiastic DJ’s and Producers with a desire to support New Music from around the World.
